Water Resistance
Water Resistance
Watches have various levels of water resistance. Using your watch only in environments suited to its level of water resistance will ensure that you can continue to enjoy your watch for many years to come.
Checking the Water Resistance of your Watch
To check the water resistance of your watch, look at the water resistance level indicated on the dial and/or case back.
* For design reasons, the water resistance level is not shown on some watches.

- * Products classified as diver’s watches comply with the ISO6425 standard.
- * “1 bar” is equivalent to a pressure of 1 atmosphere and a water depth of 10 m.
- * Regardless of the level of water resistance, watches should not be used in the ways listed below, as doing so could cause faults that jeopardize their original performance.
- • Using the crown or buttons underwater
- • Using the crown or buttons while wet
- • Failing to clean the watch to remove any water, seawater, sweat or dirt
- • Holding the watch directly under running water from a faucet
- • Immersing the watch in hot water or in a hot spring (spa) or using the watch in a sauna
- • Using a watch with a screw-lock crown while the crown is unlocked

Maintenance for Water-resistant Watches
Water-resistant watches use soft materials referred to as water-resistant gaskets.
Over long periods of use, water-resistant gaskets may lose their elasticity or become brittle and suffer declines in water resistance due to the effects of exposure to perspiration and moisture.
Problems such as scratches or other damage to the watch glass and warping of components may also impair water resistance.
To maintain the water resistance of your watch, it is recommended that you not only use the watch appropriately, but that you also have your watch serviced regularly and the gaskets replaced at least once every 2-3 years.
*Charges apply to regular servicing.
If Water Gets Inside Your Watch
If water ever gets inside your watch, or if you suspect that this is the case, immediately stop using it and request repairs.
Water inside a watch can damage parts such as internal mechanisms, electronic components and the dial.
Examples of main uses
