Questions

Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted - one moment
Would you capture it? Or just let it slip?  - Eminem

This is where our country is at now. We only have one shot to get this right. The current administration has pushed the boundaries of where we need to be in order to be economically healthy again. I am sorry Mr. President, I might be a fairly simple person, and only have one question for you and your administration. How does one spend himself/herself out of debt? If this is possible I think that everyday people should be doing it too. But it can't be done. Spending your way out of debt is the same as screwing your way out of prostitution. Just doesn't work.

So where does that leave us? Well the first thing we need to do is stop playing the blame game. The Obama administration is so quick to blame Bush. The reality is, the Bush administration should shoulder some of the blame. However we are 2 1/2 years in and the messiah has yet to achieve any of the promises from the election. Let's take a quick look at the broken promises.

Transparency: The then candidate Obama said "Going forward, anytime the American people want to know something that I or a former president wants to withhold, we will have to consult with the Attorney General and the white house counsel, whose business it is to ensure compliance with the rule of law. Information will not be withheld just because I say so; it will be withheld because a separate authority believes my request is well-grounded in the Constitution. Let me say it as simply as I can: transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency,"
The sentiment is great, never happened in the last 2 1/2 years, but great sentiment. Remember during the Healthcare debates, Nancy Pelosi famously said "But we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."
Now that is transparency!

There are too many promises that have broken to break down here. So I am just going to list them.

Increase the capital gains and dividends taxes for higher-income taxpayers

Expand the child and dependent care credit

Create a foreclosure prevention fund for homeowners

End income tax for seniors making less than $50,000

End no-bid contracts above $25,000

Phase out exemptions and deductions for higher earners

Forbid companies in bankruptcy from giving executives bonuses

Allow imported prescription drugs

Mandate insurance coverage of autism treatment

Appoint federal-level coordinator to oversee all federal autism efforts

Form international group to help Iraq refugees

Close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center

And this is just to name a few. Is this what you want from the President of the United States? To take a page from the Presidents playbook, never let a good crisis go to waste.
